Looks We Love: Blue Eyeshadow

By: Samantha Klaassen

The early 2000s were a time rich in beauty faux pas: chunky highlights, skinny brows and frosty lip gloss to name a few. And who could forget the blue eyeshadow rocked by everyone from Mischa Barton to Britney Spears?

The look took a much needed break, and is now back and better than ever (which, honestly, wasn’t a hard feat). The pastel shades of 2002 have been replaced by cerulean, sapphire, navy and indigo. Worn as winged liner or a smokey eye, these colors are flattering on any eye color.

To avoid looking washed out (or transtemporal), find the right shade for your skin color. For fairer complexions, try a jewel-toned blue like Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in Cleopatra. Bolder hues — such as the metallic cobalt featured in the recently released KKW x Mario eyeshadow palette — pop on deeper skin tones.
