Menswear-inspired looks for women are having a moment. In August, we saw Gigi Hadid on the cover of Vogue, “shopping” in boyfriend Zayn Malik’s closet. Now that New York Fashion Week has arrived, the craze is all over the Big Apple. While designers and show-goers alike have embraced this androgynous trend, the style has taken to the streets of New York City in full force. Big shoulders, bold plaids, belted waists and bright colors are just some of the ways that women have worn suit pieces off the runway this week. Not only is this trend accessible to the everyday woman, but it is possible to recreate with pieces you likely already have in your closet (or maybe your dad’s).
Here is a round-up of the best menswear-inspired street style from Fashion Week so far.
Some women chose to keep their looks classic, fitted and feminine with blazers paired with matching skirts and dresses.
Others kept the style polished with wide belts to show off their waists.
Some brought back shoulder pads reminiscent of the power suit of the 1980s.
And these women show that oversized clothing can still look put-together, even with suiting.
Lastly, these ladies prove that suits are anything but boring in bright head-to-toe hues.
