Say Yes to Neckerchiefs This Fall

By: Kimberly Rose

The neckerchief, still known as the flight attendant staple, often receives mixed reviews in the fashion world. In recent years, though, the classic square scarf has been on the rise, and much like British Vogue has reported, designers and fashionistas are thrilled.

“All trends seem to make their way back around one way or another…. this one I don’t mind sticking around for a bit,” says Designer Shirin Askari.

Here’s a glance at a few ways you can style it in different fashions, especially in the colder months of the year:

1) Around the Neck

Keep it classic. Whether with a white tee paired with jean shorts or a winter coat and a pair of trousers – this small piece of fabric adds some classic flair to your wardrobe. Channel your inner Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor!

2) Wrist Tie

Instead of wearing your usual jewels, wrap that silk scarf around your wrist! It’s an attention grabber and even The Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, once rocked it at the CFDA Awards. With a cocktail dress or even a leather jacket for colder weather – this accessory will give you more color than any bracelet.

3) Bag Tie

Not sure how to work it into your outfit? No problem – pair it with your bag. Dallas Blogger Krystal Schlegel does this by tying the square scarf to the handle of her purse to “add a fun detail.” You could even follow Aimee Song’s lead at New York Fashion Week and use it as the bag strap itself!

There are more ideas out there that you can make your own. Print, color, warm, cold – any and all situations suit for this accessory!
