I Tried It: goop products

This past summer I interned for goop in the beauty and wellness department. As part of my role, I tested tons of beauty products. From shampoos to nail polish, as a team, we determined which products were considered clean and would be worth picking up. Goop is known for only selling clean products. But what is clean beauty anyways?

Goop states, “It means a non-toxic product that is made without a long, ever-evolving list of ingredients linked to harmful health effects from hormone disruption, to cancer, to plain-old skin irritation. To name just a few: parabens, phthalates, PEGs, ethanolamines, chemical sunscreens, synthetic fragrance, BHT, BHA.”

There are so many products that claim they are “organic” “natural” or “non-toxic”. However, most of these products are fooling you. We read ingredient labels on the foods we eat, so why not do the same for products we put on our bodies?

While goop products are known to be expensive, there are a few that I’m obsessed with and are worth splurging on!

GOOPGLOW Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator:

The name says it all…This really is an instant glow exfoliator. I use this probably once a week and it immediately rids of dead skin, leaving my face as soft as a baby’s bottom. It was created with Microderm technology, so it’s like a facial in a jar, without having to leave your home. Especially in the winter months, our faces become dry, dull, and flakey. This is the perfect product to erase the effects of winter weather.

G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo:

This is my go-to shampoo every Thursday night. It leaves my hair smelling amazing and feeling so clean for the rest of the weekend. Think of it as a body scrub for your scalp. The clean ingredients detoxify the scalp, ridding of excess product build-up, oil, and dirt. If you have oily hair, this is the product for you!

“The Martini” Emotional Detox Bath Soak:

We all know college can be stressful…Living on your own, doing your own laundry, making your own meals, and running errands can get the best of you. After a long week, I need a break. Which is why I love this bath soak. It literally relaxes your neck and shoulders, helping to take the edge off after a crazy week, hence the name, “The Martini”.

Head to goop.com to check out more clean beauty products. They will leave you feeling beautiful, while also feeling great about the products you are putting on your skin!
