I’ve always been interested in monthly subscription boxes, however, I never got around to actually signing up for one. After a few months of absolute boredom in quarantine, I found myself longing for some online shopping. That’s when I fell on IPSY.com.
IPSY is a personalized monthly makeup & beauty subscription program, perfect for the girl who wants to try out new products. When you first sign up, you’re guided through a personalized quiz. This helps IPSY narrow down which products to send you each month. The quiz includes everything from hair type, eye color, skin concerns, comfortability with makeup, to the products you are most interested in receiving.
IPSY offers 3 different boxes at 3 different price points:
- Glam Bag: $12 a month, 5 sample-size products
- Glam Bag Plus: $25 a month, 5 full-size products
- Glam Bag Ultimate: $50 a month, 8 full-size products, 4 deluxe samples
As a first-timer, I chose to go with the Glam Bag Plus. Here’s what I got and what I thought about my first subscription box.
The packaging is super cute and bright. Obviously the items move around a lot during shipping, but the company provides a foam pad inside so that the products do not break or get destroyed.
This month I recieved Frame Your Face Precise Brow Gel in Clear by Wander Beauty, Vineyard Soirée Palette by Coloured Raine Cosmetics, sugar coat velvet liquid lipstick in Cupcake by Sugar Rush, NOMAD x Sydney Bathers Kiss Of Sun Palette by NOMAD, and Aftermask Vitamin Serum by MUDMASKY. Plus, the products come with a makeup bag which is perfect for traveling! Overall, for $25 a month, I think this subscription box is a great bang for your buck. Each box comes with products valued at over $50, so paying just $25 seems reasonable.
My favorite product from this month’s box is definitely Kiss Of Sun Palette by NOMAD. With summer approaching, I am looking to add a little bit more glow to my makeup routine!
I was surprised by the products I received this month considering during the quiz, I specified I wanted neutral-toned makeup and hair products. Unfortunately I received zero hair products this month and the eyeshadow palette colors were a bit crazy for my taste. I don’t see my self using purple eyeshadow, so I was a bit disappointed to receive that. However, overall the products are pretty good and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next month!
