Sundays mark the final day of the weekend. For most people, this may be a day full of rest; waking up at 2 pm and never leaving your bed. Let’s just say, the Boulevard can be exhausting. However, for many Dallas natives, Sunday is the ultimate recovery day. Dallas is the epicenter for health and wellness trends; there is no excuse to not stay active. So, let’s get off our butts, put on some yoga pants, and begin our perfect Sunday reset.
Morning: Coffee and Fresh Air
Sunday mornings are for slow wake ups, and a coffee run to Foxtrot or Sadelles is a non-negotiable. Sunday doesn’t officially start until I answer my matcha latte’s call. For those who enjoy the fresh air in the mornings, the Katy Trail provides a beautiful stroll or jog, where you will probably spot many other Mustangs getting a head start on their 15,000 steps before noon.
Midday: Homework and Recharge
By 12 o’clock, it’s time to get started on homework. Whether it’s stopping by Fondren, or cozying up in a corner at a coffee shop, Sundays are perfect for getting your work done. Sophomore Garland Barrett tells us, “Funny Library is my coffee shop to study in on Sunday because it’s a cool atmosphere with great coffee. It’s the perfect place to focus and get my work done.” Honestly, Sundays are all about hitting the reset button after a crazy week, and recharging your brain so that you get your life back on track before Monday hits.
Afternoon: Wellness and Fitness
Not only are Sundays for chores, they are also a time for self-care. For those who live on campus, Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports is essentially a playground for hot girl walks (treadmills for days, anyone?). For the girls that want more of a challenge, embrace your inner pilates princess at O2 Life or Niche.
Evening: Reflection and Recovery
The perfect Sunday reset ends with a gentle conclusion. It may be drinking tea, reading a book while wearing a face mask, or binging Dancing with the Stars with your roommate. Sunday nights are for complete relaxation and recovery. Pro tip: to avoid a fashion disaster in the morning, it’s best to set out your Monday outfit the night before.
Sundays are crucial to getting through the next week. So, pour some tea, light a candle, and reset your mind. Finish your Sunday strong, and step into Monday totally unbothered.
