Mardi Gras. A once a year celebration in New Orleans where you can dress as out of the box as you want and embrace your unique style. Neon, sparkles, and comfort are key to a successful weekend.
This year we are sadly looking at rainy weather, so it’s time to scavenge deep into your closet and search for your trendiest rain jacket and boots. Here is some inspiration to be able to stay dry while still looking cute.
Roaming around Nola in the day jumping back and forth from Bourbon street to campus at Tulane, you are going to want to stand out with your daytime outfit. Dolls Kill, Revolve, Nasty Gal, and Forever 21 are just a few of the places to put together an Instagram worthy outfit.
COMFORT IS KEY! You are going to be walking around the entire day and don’t want to be that person that has to go back and change your shoes. Also, leave your expensive shoes for another time- they will get destroyed.
Nola is not the safest place ever, so you are going to want to keep your personal items close to you at all times. A backpack or fanny pack I personally think are the best options. Here are some cute ones I found that are inexpensive!

Finally, what you will actually be wearing. I am personally going to be bringing out some of my most “out there” looks, but I wanted to include some ideas if you are trying be more well, modest.
A graphic tee is something so easy as classic that you can pair with any bottom. You can cut your tee to make it into a crop and throw on joggers and Doc Martens, and boom you have an outfit.
Now it’s time for you to start your search for the perfect Mardi Gras outfit. Have fun and be safe & fashionable!
