Perfectly coiffed and smelling amazing (I later learn her signature scent is Tom Ford, more on that later) Isabella Lites walks into the Starbucks in Fondren at 8 a.m. At 27-years-old, the Olympian is the epitome of #goals with a new-found hunger for an SMU degree.
SL: So why SMU?
IL: We moved to Dallas because my husband took a job with the Stars. My husband is an SMU alumni, so it just kind of felt natural.
SL:Why did you join a sorority at 27?
IL: As the fall semester got going, I realized how prevalent it is here. I just remember thinking it would be really nice to feel like I was more a part of the community and not just going to class.
SL: Is there a dream job after being an Olympian?
IL: I always said I wanted to be a sports psychologist. I would love to provide clinical psych counseling for not only competitive athletes but athletes that have just retired. A lot of people have a crisis of identity when they retire, and I was really lucky that I had school and I knew that was the track I wanted to go on.
Throughout her ice-skating career, Lites always did her own makeup for her performances. She even did her own makeup for her performance in the Olympics. She says that she has been developing a passion for makeup since she was seven years old. In doing her own professional makeup for so long, she has a carefully curated selection of must-have makeup products.
“I’ll just put two pumps in with my moisturizer in the morning and it just gives you a really good healthy flush,” says Lites.
“I love Rihanna’s FENTY beauty line, the Fenty glow lipgloss is amazing and I wear it every day,” says Lites.
Besides these items, Lites says that she fills in her eyebrows everyday. She recommends that you find a product that works for your skin type, coloring, and eyebrows.
Finally, Lites recommends topping your look off with “a timeless perfume” to pull the whole look together.
“Right now, I’ve been wearing Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme. I tend to gravitate towards spicier, sexier scents. In the summertime, I’ll lighten them up a little bit,” says Lites. “In the summertime I really love Chanel Gardénia. It’s a really beautiful scent. I love the scent of Gardenia and I had Gardenia’s in my wedding bouquet!”
