Describe yourself in three words.
Impactful, genuine, and compassionate.
Why SMU?
This could be my inner tour guide speaking, but the first time I stepped on campus I knew that I wanted to spend the next four years there.
Describe your journey. How’d you get here?
When there’s something at SMU that requires change, you need to not only identify a problem but also solve it. You need to get creative, make compromises, and utilize all the resources at your disposal, yet stay steadfast and strong. After all my experiences at SMU, good and bad, I hope to be a leader for all students at our university.
What is your “why”? Why do you do what you do?
I have been very privileged to have had various leadership positions at SMU. I think that I do what I do because I have seen the need for change, and am able to take action because of the roles I have been placed into. The role of Student Body President would grant me an even larger platform to help the SMU community.
How’d you decide to run for Student Body President?
The choice was not easy, I am not running for Student Body President just for the title. Being SBP would give me the power to make a big difference at our university. A lot of people have their own self-interests at heart, but for me, my biggest priority is the well being and success of our students.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Friends.
What’s your greatest achievement?
The Scholastic National Silver Medal and Gold Key Award.
What’s one thing you can’t leave the house without?
A dark pair of sunglasses.
What’s your all-time favorite T.V. show/movie?
Since I’ve binged every episode during quarantine, Westworld.
What is your favorite restaurant in Dallas?
Lounge 31 on a Friday night.
If you could be one person dead or alive, who would it be?
RGT.
Why do you think you’re the best fit to be SMU’s Student Body President?
I think that I am the best fit because my interests are extremely diverse. The other candidates are in very specific social circles and interests. I have been fortunate during my time at SMU to become friends with people in all areas of campus, as well as being involved with a wide variety of organizations.
I hope you got a better glimpse of who Jack Davis is!
