The Comeback of Coach

If you haven’t heard yet, Coach has just revamped their bags. We can all think back to when Coach was reigning back in the early 2000s as a lower-end luxury item. The average SMU student likely knows Coach as nothing more than a brand their parents used to wear back in the day.

Even with the resurgence of vintage bags such as the Gucci Jackie Bag or the Prada Re-Edition, there has not been a prominent Coach presence on SMU’s campus.

Let’s be honest, SMU, fashion-wise, is known to be a bit snobby when it comes to their luxury goods. Because of this, I was initially hesitant to even say that Coach had a place on our campus. Especially against the beloved Prada and Gucci bags….

So, I am here to sell you.

I believe that Coach’s new designs are perfect for three reasons.

1. They feature a baguette styled bag.

If there is one thing I have learned this semester, it is that baguettes are it. I feel like in just about every single picture I see on my instagram feed, at least one person is in a baguette style bag. There really is no need for anything except your phone, wallet, and sunglasses anyways….

2. Their bags are the perfect combination of fun & mature.

I love the embroidery on this bag. This type of bag truly could fit in perfectly with SMU’s lifestyle. It’s the ideal brunch bag or perfect for taking to Truck Yard.

3. It’s reasonably priced with great quality.

I have heard HORROR stories about girls losing a Chanel bag at bars and not being able to find them the next day. Because of stories like these, I know that people have opted for getting a cheaper bag from stores like Urban Outfitters. But, then next thing you know, the strap on your Urban Outfitters bag breaks mid-carry. Coach’s price-point is great for the same quality of bag like higher-end brands, but it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

I hope that after this I start seeing more Coach Bags on our campus!!
