I am a podcast girly. Whether I’m doing chores, studying, getting ready, or walking to class, you can almost always find me sporting a pair of sage green Airpod Pro Max headphones, tuned into a podcast. I wasn’t always a podcast girly, though. As I’ve grown up, my craving for news, information, open discussions, and interviews surpassed my desire to listen the same Spotify playlist I had been playing on repeat all week. Podcasts add to my daily routine, providing me with an easy and entertaining way to attain information throughout my day. Below are some of my favorite listens that should definitely be added to your list.
This is, by far, my favorite podcast. Hosted by Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick, it features interviews with a wide range of guests such as: entrepreneurs, creators, actors, authors, founders, doctors and more. I love this show because it not only entertains but educates me as well. The banter between Lauryn and Michael is unmatched; the two can carry on a conversation with such ease, no matter the guest, making every interview feel natural. What I love about the show specifically is how it exposes me to a wealth of knowledge and topics I might not have ever encountered without it.
From interviews with Dr. Daniel Amen, discussing the topic of optimal brain health, to a conversation with business owner Annie Lawless about her journey in opening one of the largest cold-press juice companies, Suja, and to chats with stars like Steph Shep, who is notable for being a popular influencer and former Kardashian assistant, the show keeps it interesting and doesn’t confine itself to one category. Most importantly, I leave every listen with a renewed sense of ambition, curiosity, and a desire to explore whatever topic Lauryn and Michael brought to the microphone each week.
The cult favorite podcast, Call Her Daddy, was the first podcast I ever listened to. I’ve been an OG fan since the podcast’s early days under ownership of Barstool Sports and still am today. Hosted by Alexandra Cooper, the show features interviews with a variety of celebrities and pop culture icons. It also includes episodes that offer a vlog-style peek into host Alexandra Cooper’s life. Cooper has won over listeners by being unapologetically herself and with the undeniable spunk she brings into her interviews, which her guests clearly enjoy. From guests like Hailey Bieber and John Mayer to psychologist Dr. Arielle Schwartz, the show covers a lot of ground and provides key figures in the public eye with an opportunity to give their fans an inside look into their personal story.
This is the modern-day equivalent of Gossip Girl, and it also happens to be my guilty pleasure. The podcast, Deux U is hosted by DEUXMOI, whose identity is a well-kept secret. DEUXMOI started as an Instagram page where people can submit anonymous stories, sightings, and encounters related to public figures and celebrities. I am a fan because DEUXMOI spills all the tea, often before the mainstream press does. For any reality TV fan, Deux U is the perfect podcast, typically focusing on three to four inside stories that are hot in pop culture and not to mention, Deux is hilariously entertaining. I finish every episode feeling caught up on all things pop culture in 45 mins. Anon Pls 😉
A good podcast has the power to make some of the boring tasks of the day a bit more entertaining. There are a variety of other shows I listen to, but these three options are a great place to start if you are a podcast first-timer. Happy listening!
