The Oscars 2022 took place Sunday night and the attendees came to play (or to secure their spot on the infamous Best Dressed List). As the highest critics of fashion, naturally the staff here at SMU Look has some opinions. Here are the SMU Look staff’s favorite looks from the 2022 Oscars red carpet.

Kodi Smit-McPhee wearing Bottega Veneta.
“I love when the classic awards tux gets a rebrand. The blue is such an elegant color and the subtle sparkle of the necklace is spectacular.” -Bennett Hill, Class of 2023

Lily James wearing Atelier Versace.
“Vogue said her look was very ‘modern/princess chic, which is exactly her sweet spot’ and I completely agree!” -Carolyn Hammond, Class of 2022

Zuri Hill wearing Sophie Couture.
“I love the textured blush pink for spring.” -Charlotte Kolman, Class of 2024

Dakota Johnson at the Vanity Fair Afterparty wearing Gucci.
“It gives me empress vibes. I love every single detail of her look. The sequins, feathers, and pleats add amazing movement to the dress. Her makeup and hair was perfect as it’s super simple and lets us appreciate the dress. To me this look is a 100/10!” -Atenas Vijil, Class of 2024

Kim Kardashian at the Vanity Fair Afterparty wearing Balenciaga.
“I felt like it was a color that is not typically worn on a red carpet. It was sleek and had an open back. The gloves tied the entire outfit together.” -Morgan Gruwell, Class of 2023

Anya Taylor-Joy at the Vanity Fair Afterparty wearing Dior.
“Edgy yet feminine and elegant.” -Michaela McTee, Class of 2023
“I love big dramatic dresses that are unexpected and unique. I love how feminine it is as well!” -Fernanda Gonzalez, Class of 2023
My Personal Favorite:
Everything about this look just works. Satin blouses have been such a trend lately and I love how glamorous it looks on the red carpet, especially with the sequin skirt. Zendaya always kills it.
