As icy sidewalks slow us down and cold weather keeps everyone indoors, our minds are drifting somewhere warmer — sandy beaches, fresh margaritas at the Cabo airport bar, and crochet dresses filling our Pinterest boards. One spring break style expert is one of our very own, SMU alumna June Song. An Aussie from down under, Song is sharing her favorite Australian fashion brands perfect for sunny vacations and spring events.

When you think of effortless style, Australia may not be the first place that comes to mind. But as an Australian attending SMU, I know that fashion from my home country has a unique style, charm and sophistication that I think my fellow Dallas fashionistas will love.
Being surrounded by so many stylish brands growing up, I’ve come to love how Australian fashion feels – relaxed, confident, and sun-soaked. I’m also a professional golfer and, as an athlete, I spend most of my time in sporty outfits. But I still love fashion and how it can express my personality both on and off the course.
Brands like Zimmermann, Aje, and Bec + Bridge capture that effortless, cool-girl aesthetic that I have always liked. For my fellow SMU students looking for a standout formal outfit, a fun party dress, or something Instagram-worthy, these Australian brands are worth exploring. They ship internationally, and some are even available in stores near you.
Zimmermann
Zimmermann has always stood out as the ultimate Australian fashion brand. Known globally for its original prints and feminine designs, it perfectly captures that effortless, elegant style I’ve grown up seeing in Sydney. The label was founded by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann in 1991, when Nicky started selling her handmade dresses at a local market. When people quickly fell in love with her designs, the sisters opened their first store in Darlinghurst, Sydney – and the brand has only grown from there.
Today, Zimmermann has over 50 boutiques worldwide, including more than 20 in the United States – even one at NorthPark Center in Dallas. I love that it offers everything from ready-to-wear pieces to swim and resort collections, all with that signature Zimmermann look.
If you are after delicate lace, floaty silhouettes, or playful prints, Zimmermann is the way to go. I think their dresses work for just about anything – from lunch with friends to a formal event. The pieces are on the pricier side (around $450 to $2,000), but in my opinion, they are worth it. The pieces photograph beautifully, which makes them perfect for occasions like senior pictures or sorority events.

Aje
Aje has always been one of my favorite Australian brands. Co-founded by Edwina Forest and Adrian Norris in 2008, it has become one of the country’s most loved fashion houses. I have always admired how Aje blends that effortless coastal edge with a modern, urban style – which feels true to the Australian lifestyle. What started as an affordable label bridging the gap between beachside ease and city chic has now grown into an internationally recognized brand.
If you are into statement sleeves and textured fabrics, Aje is your go-to. I love how their dresses have volume and personality, and the prints are always stunning. I recently tried on a couple of dresses in store for a wedding, and the colors of the dresses are stunning and gave off a summery vibe. Prices can go up to around $1,300, but there are plenty of pieces at lower price points too – and they always make a statement.

Bec + Bridge
Bec + Bridge is an Australian brand I love for its clean lines and modern minimalism. Founded in 2003 by designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston, it has become known for sleek designs, effortless eveningwear and chic bridal looks. I have always thought of the brand as the perfect mix of confidence and simplicity – every piece feels timeless yet modern.
It is no surprise that celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber are fans. I especially love their evening slip dresses and tailored fits – they transition easily from a rooftop bar to the dance floor. With prices ranging from around $200 to $550, Bec + Bridge feels like that perfect balance between luxury and accessibility.
