Dining in Dallas: Parent’s Weekend Edition

By Shae Walker

With Parents’ Weekend quickly approaching it is time to start booking reservations at all the hottest local restaurants so you can ensure your parents have the perfect Dallas experience. Here are a few of the SMU Look staff member’s picks for the perfect Parents’ Weekend dinner destination.

Lucy Ladis: R&D Kitchen

If there’s one thing SMU students love, it’s a Hillstone Group restaurant. Located in Preston Center, R&D is known for its hand-rolled sushi and American cuisine classics. Fans of the restaurant would suggest ordering the Coconut Shrimp Roll, Ding’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the iconic Kale Salad. No matter what you’re craving, R & D has something for you.

Rees Sinnott: Uchi

Calling all sushi connoisseurs, if that’s you then Uchi is the place to be. Uchi prides itself on its “non-traditional” take on Japanese cuisine as well as its cooked seafood. Finish the night off with their unforgettable Fried Milk dessert and you will be one happy diner.

Meighan Ashford: The Mansion Bar

If you are on the hunt for a sophisticated, yet hip location to take your parents then look no further than the Dallas icon, The Mansion Bar located in the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The Mansion Bar offers classic cocktails, light bites, and Contemporary American cuisine with a Texan flair. From the fantastic ambiance to the great live music it is hard to find a flaw with The Mansion bar.

Shae Walker: Harper’s Steakhouse

Whether you are craving a fabulous steak house or an Instagram-worthy brunch spot, Harper’s is the place. Harper’s is notorious for its elegant ambiance, photogenic cocktails and delicious steak. Personally, I am a die-hard brunch girl and dream about Harper’s Very Berry Pancakes, although no matter what you order your stomach will thank you.

I hope y’all have an amazing parent’s weekend filled with delicious food from some of Dallas’ finest.
