What to Wear: Formal Edition

By Shae Walker

Formal season is upon us, and if you are anything like me you want nothing less than the perfect look. Dress shopping is often a challenge and after a while can feel extremely repetitive; which nobody has time for during the peak of the school year. With that being said, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite dresses that will hopefully cross a tedious day of dress shopping off your to-do list.

Bold and Beautiful:

If you would describe yourself as extra then look no further than the Anna dress from Bronx and Banco. This bright number is serving the same energy as Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic tulle moment. Finish your look with a statement necklace and be ready to turn heads all night long.

For the minimalist:

If you prefer the simple things in life then the Emily Dress by Two Bodies is the one for you. This silk piece is gorgeously made and comes in multiple neutrals as well as a cherry red. Paired with some dainty accessories and a pair of heels for an elegant and timeless look.

Balling on a Budget:

Just because you are on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t look like a million bucks. The Tina Mini Dress by Superdown is the best of both worlds, the quality is gorgeous and your bank account will thank you. No need for bold accessories, this dress makes a statement with its plunging neckline that is sexy while still remaining tasteful. Pair with some heels and style your hair in a slicked-back pony for a sleek and stunning look.

Back in Black:

The little black dress is an icon on the fashion stage, and for good reason. Some may call the LBD simple but you cannot deny they are flattering, easy to style with anything in your closet, and a staple every girl needs. The LBD on my wishlist right now is the Dion dress from The Bar. This velvet number is draped perfectly and comes with a pair of detachable baby pink tulle sleeves. Whether you choose to soften the dress with the sleeves or wear it with statement jewelry of your choice, this dress could do no wrong.

Pretty in Pink:

The Cindi Sequin Mini dress by Superdown is a must for those looking to live out their Malibu Barbie dreams. Adorned with bubblegum pink sequins and a cut-out in the back this dress is extremely eye-catching (not to mention you can’t beat the price tag). Pair with simple accessories and a pair of strappy stilettos and all you will be missing is the Ken to your Barbie.
