The latest trend is just in time for Spring.
From Revolve to Princess Polly to boutiques, 3D flower embellishments have entered the scene. The fun flower appliqué is the newest addition to Trends of 2023 and is everywhere. Here’s some insight on the budding–pun fully intended–craze.
Who’s behind it??
Surprise, surprise: it’s the 2000s. According to Purewow.com, Carrie Bradshaw sported the rosette brooch before anyone. Oversized flowers officially have the Sex And The City stamp of approval. Though it’s no surprise the fashion community continues to pull influence from the early 2000s, they’ve been doing it for years now. From skinny jeans coming back, even to the reprisal of “Heroin-chic”, I think it’s safe to say we haven’t seen the last of the ‘00s.
Real-world sightings
While Carrie Bradshaw may have started this trend, Hailey Bieber brought it back. The starlet wore a blue two-piece set with flower embellishments to the celebration of her skincare line Rhode in June of 2022. Her set, originally designed by an emerging Vietnamese designer Duy Tran, is now available in similar styles from websites like Lioness and Princess Polly. Bieber’s Y2 K-inspired look from nearly one year ago was one of the first sparks in the blooming flame that is 3D floral appliqués.
Flower Power
Because everyone’s hopping on the trend, you can find your 3D flowers almost anywhere. From formal dresses to going-out tops, chokers to brooches, these flower appliqués are easily accessible. Who knows, with just the right amount of dedication, one could probably make their own! With summer just around the corner, these accessories are the perfect addition to any outfit and will surely act as the centerpiece for a trendy springtime look. It’s not too late to finish accessorizing your Coachella outfit!
