Revolve, an online fashion retailer popular on SMU’s campus, hosted a pop-up shop in the West Village during parent’s weekend. Revolve offered a 10% discount to students who attended with their SMU ID this past Saturday. Discounts are always a great incentive to shop, but there was also free La La Land coffee and complementary permanent bracelets from Diggy Jewels to sweeten the deal.
When first stepping into the store, I was greeted by a kind sales associates and a stunning backdrop. The backdrop was captivating and set the tone for the rest of the shop: clean, chic and contemporary.
Kylie Dashefksy, Revolve’s brand ambassador manager, flew to Dallas with her colleagues for the weekend. This was the first-ever Revolve Pop-Up in Texas and she was excited to showcase her products in a new environment.
“We knew we wanted to do Dallas because it’s such a great hub,” Dashefsky said. “Everyone is so stylish here.”
After snapping a few pictures, my mom, of course, wanted photos of us in front of the backdrop. We then promptly explored the stores offerings. The shop carried various brands, including Lovers and Friends, Majorelle, Paige, Frame, and more. Clothes were separated by color, but the center of the store featured SMU-themed racks. It was red, white and blue galore.
Dashefsky said that doing college pop-up’s are so fun because they get to do something different like “incorporating the school’s colors into the merchandising.”
Revolve collaborated with The Cotton Shop for this pop-up, meaning everything in the store showcased items from that shop. The Cotton Shop offers ready-to-wear clothing with “at least 75-80% cotton” and denim containing “at least 90% cotton,” Dashefsky said.
Lapping around the store I carefully picked out my favorite pieces and took a coffee break, thanks to the amazing sponsor. La La Land was handing out their signature “La La Latte” in both coffee and matcha form. They even had their own version of a cold foam named “cloud foam.” I obviously chose the matcha and asked for extra cloud foam. It was so delicious I was tempted to try their coffee next, but I had to stop myself so I could try on my clothes.
Revolve’s Event Coordinator, Ashley Adams spoke with me about their different pop-ups and what makes them so special. They opened a shop in Aspen last winter, and it did so well that it is now a multi-year store. Revolve has also hosted pop-ups in New York and LA, with their first permanent store coming to The Grove this November.
“Pop-ups are a good opportunity for customers to experience what it’s like to be an influencer for the day,” Adams said.
I left the store with a red Lovers and Friends mini dress, a permanent bracelet, and a cute pair of black kitten heels. Safe to say it was a success!
