This past Wednesday evening, a select group of fashion media and SMU students gathered at Columbian Country Club to celebrate the launch of Liadan Corbally’s apparel brand, named Liadan Corbally LLC.
Guests entered the Old Hollywood, New York City-inspired venue through a red velvet hallway and were greeted with drinks, hors d’oeuvres and a personalized shopping experience. Corbally went all out for the event with a DJ and flash photography present.
No detail was forgotten with bartenders serving drinks with custom coasters and personalized cocktail napkins. Each guest was encouraged to take home stickers and matchboxes engraved with the brand logo. Tyler Martin, an SMU Look staff member, shared, “I was so impressed by all the attention to detail in the pop-up! The venue was already stunning, but the little touches like the custom matchboxes and large brand logos on the mirrors were so amazing.”
The line launched with four sweatshirt designs, each representative of a time period in Corbally’s life. Additionally, Fresh Custom Embroidery (@freshcustomemb on Instagram) was on-site to embroider sweatshirts and hats, allowing guests to add a personal touch. Each sweatshirt is priced at $150, with limited quantities available, so don’t hesitate to snag one!
Corbally shared the inspiration behind her four designs:
“This was my first design. It’s mysterious, but each element together makes sense. I included my cat, Madaket, in this image because she is so nonchalant and her tuxedo matches the image perfectly. It’s warm and subtle but has so much life.”
“I actually don’t love the color pink – not anymore at least. I wanted to take inspiration from a childhood photo as well as the hit show Sex and the City. It’s soft, romantic, glamorous and a little vintage. I love this because it embodies the typical girls night out.”
“This image is so nostalgic for me. My family and I go to Nantucket every summer and it’s a place I call home. I love the depiction of a coastal lifestyle. Everything about this design is so Nantucket – the hydrangeas, the woven basket, the pearls and the oysters.”
“This depicts the perfect date night to me. This design is sexy. It’s hot but it also has a hint of innocence. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts and I think it pairs perfectly with the espresso martini. I love the color combination of the browns and reds. This to me depicts the romance every girl wants. I love how this image sparks daydream and it’s reminiscent of those initial feelings when dating someone new.”
The launch exemplified the incredible work ethic and creativity within the SMU community and a wonderful event to gather creative students and aspiring entrepreneurs to gather and connect.
