Where to Eat Gluten Free Without Feeling Gluten Free

As a girl who considers herself a major foodie I was more than upset when I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy. I thought “goodbye pizza, mac and cheese, cake,” all the foods I loved the most. If you’re like me, you know it can be hard to eat out with a gluten allergy. However, there seem to be more and more restaurants these days that offer gluten free options or even have an entire menu dedicated to foods that are allergy friendly. I’ve tried my fair share of gluten friendly restaurants in the Dallas area and most do an amazing job of giving you the comfort food you love without the horrible after effects. And as we all do, I have my favorite go-to places. Here are my top five gluten friendly restaurants.

1. Taverna

I’m a sucker for Italian food, and this place knows how to do it! Known for their famous risotto, Taverna offers gluten free options for all your carb-loving needs. With a majority of the menu, including their signature dishes being able to be made gluten free you know you’re in good hands. You expect to find five amazing risottos (naturally gluten free), eight extravagant pizza options, seven mouth watering pasta dishes, and if that’s not enough for you they have plenty of other options equally as delicious. Offering brunch, lunch, and dinner, this place is to die for!

What I order: Beet Salad, Chef’s Focaccia, Risotto Al Parmigiano con Salsa Tartufata, and Veal Saltimbocca https://www.instagram.com/p/BDlDvOTmsmB/?hl=en&taken-by=companycafe

2. Company Cafe

This hidden spot in Lower Greenville is great for indulging in your favorite breakfast foods. Offering every item of the menu as gluten free there is no need to worry when stuffing your face with stuffed french toast or bananas foster pancakes. And if you need a little pick me up they have a full menu of of coffee or libations, hello Pomosa (mimosa with pomegranate and orange juice)! And if you aren’t a breakfast person they also serve numbers of burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Don’t forget to stop at the gluten free bakery at the front on the way out.

The menu gives you many dishes to choose from including salads, bowls, wraps, and build your own plates (which I must say all options for the plates are super tasty). Get all your food groups in and dessert. Flower Child offers gluten free brownies, cookies, and a lemon olive oil cake that is to just heavenly. And their season changing lemonades and teas are just a drool worthy.
