For many, spring semester can be incredibly stressful and draining. It becomes difficult to get the motivation to do school work with the thought of summer quickly approaching. As college students, it is important to prioritize our own health and wellbeing during such a demanding time. Self-care may seem selfish, but it’s sometimes necessary to decompress. Here are a few spots in the DFW area to get the ultimate relaxation experience.

1. Riviera Spa: Uptown
Riviera Spa offers several services to help you relax, but the infrared sauna and therapeutic float tank are a must. Infrared saunas are known for their incredible detoxification abilities (7x more effective than a regular sauna). They heat the inside of your body, rather than just the air around you, so the toxins are released. They offer a 25 minute session for only $35, so be sure to check it out. The therapeutic float tank allows you to float in an Epsom salt tank that is heated to your body temperature. It is a total relaxation experience, and the perfect break from class.


2. Jade & Clover: Deep Ellum
If you’re looking for the cutest shop to escape to, Jade & Clover is the perfect place. Located on Main Street in Deep Ellum, this boutique offers local gifts, accessories, and house plants. The best part? The plant bar. They have a little area of their shop dedicated to making your own succulents. You get to choose your planter, plant, and any additional decorations, like crystals. You can also reserve the plant bar, in case you and your girlfriends want to take a break from school together.


3. Session Pilates: Uptown, Lovers Lane, Lakewood
A huge part of self-care is taking care of your physical health in addition to your emotional health. Session has three locations, and each workout will definitely leave you feeling stronger and more motivated. Classes are 50 minutes and are designed to build lean muscle. The movements are typically slow and rhythmic, so it isn’t too taxing on your body. They have started offering student discounts, so make sure to bring your student ID if you decide to give it a try.


4. BAM Beauty Bar: Uptown
With only a few weeks left in the semester and finals quickly approaching, it is important to remember self-care. Stress can have awful effects on your body and overall well being, so never feel guilty for taking a quick break.
