Red, White, and Varsity Blues: Outfits for the Boulevard

Boulevarding is one of SMU’s most beloved traditions, and students are always dressed to the nines for every game. I remember as a freshman being so excited to pick out my outfits. Even still, boulevarding is one of my favorite fall activities. Unlike most colleges, gameday style at SMU is typically more dressy and put together. Students wear anything from a classic sundress to a cool jumpsuit, while always putting their own personal style on display. Here are a few examples of stylish boulevard looks!

Every season at the first home game, you can guarantee that everyone will be wearing white. For this look, I chose a simple Reformation dress that can be dressed up or down. I paired it with some on-trend accessories that I’ve been loving, like these sunglasses and chunky hoops. I especially love the espadrille wedges– I saw them all over Paris when I studied there this summer!

While it is more common to see dresses on the boulevard, you can definitely dress down a bit with jeans- especially when it gets cooler towards the end of the season. For a casual boulevard outfit, I’d go for this look with jeans, a simple top, platforms, and statement earrings! Throw on a leather jacket for a (rare) cold game.

For any typical game day, you can find people wearing classic red or blue dresses. I love this comfy-looking red dress paired with sneakers for an easy outfit! I’ve been obsessed with the metallic trend lately, and this bag is the perfect size for games. Ford Stadium only allows clear bags or small clutches, so most people on the boulevard opt for a cute little crossbody.

No matter what your style is, it is always fun to sport red and blue and support the stangs. Happy boulevarding!
