It’s a tale as old as time for this Gen Z makeup guru. SMU junior, Faith Tell’s obsession with makeup is a byproduct of countless hours watching YouTube like many of her peers. But, instead of just watching Tell put her skills to use on any face she could get her hands on. Mom, sisters, friends, and brides everyone was fair game for Faith Tell Beauty Co. Forget cosmetology school and mall makeup counters, YouTubers like Desi Perkins (Faith’s favorite) opened the doors for the product obsessed to take over without any formal training.
Faith says it best herself, “YouTube is beauty school these days.”
Tell chooses Aquaphor as her desert island product…When she finds something that works she sticks to it. Faith credits Creme de La Mer for her stellar complexion. Don’t let the hefty price tag fool you though, she’s not afraid to try out more affordable brands. Among her current favorites is The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic acid which clocks in at just under seven dollars. It’s all about mixing products and brands for her day and night routines. Lanolips, Lancome oscillation mascara, Bobbi Brown extra lip tint, Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless finish setting powder, and Marc Jacobs beauty enamored hi-shine lip lacquer all have a place in Faith’s bag.
Her dream face to deck out? Devon Lee Carlson or Kendall Jenner.
In the rapid-fire round, she rattled off answers without a second thought. Highlighter over bronzer. Eyes over lips. Earrings over necklaces…just to name a few. Her beauty philosophy? “Less is more and skin is in.”
