It seems like all of my group chats are 90% Euphoria discussions, Tik-Toks, memes and theories. This is not surprising considering the vast range of topics covered on the show, and how many people find the storylines, characters and situations relatable and relevant to youth today.
Euphoria has already been renewed for its third season and as the characters keep developing (for better or for worse), the viewers will continue to keep deepening their attachment to their stories, personalities and lives. This attachment is evident in all of the interviewees for this article, as they all had very strong opinions on where these characters would grab a bite.
The show is filmed in Southern California, but imagine if in some alternate universe, this show was set here at SMU? Here is a student-based breakdown of where the characters would eat if they were fellow mustangs.
Cassie Howard
Coffee shop: “Cassie would definitely go to La La Land Kind Cafe and get the strawberry cream cheese toast, she would probably also get a matcha for Maddy before class.”- Sofia Antico, class of 2023.
Lunch staple: “Cassie is basic so she would go to Chop Shop and get the kale caesar salad because she saw Maddy get it when she was on a date with Nate last week.” – Lizzie Sexton, class of 2025.
Dinner out: “Cassie definitely goes to Bluefish where it’s classy enough to be socially acceptable for her, but cheap enough for her to get as drunk as she needs to be.” – Ayah Krisht, class of 2023.
Jules Vaughn
Coffee: “I think Jules would love the Funny Library Coffee Shop because it is quirky and different like her. I could see her enjoying their citrus chamomile tea with a croissant.” – Fernanda Gonzalez, class of 2023.
Lunch staple: “Jules would go to Flower Child for lunch because it is healthy, indie and hippie.” – Lizzie Sexton, class of 2025.
Dinner out: “I think Jules would love Oni Ramen and get the vegetarian bowl, mid spice and a green tea.” – Reagan Mcginnis, class of 2023.
Maddy Perez:
Coffee shop: “Maddy would not get her own coffee. Nate would get her a coffee from the Sablon Chocolate Lounge.”- Leland Mcinerny and Christina Tani, class of 2024 and 2023.
Lunch staple: “I feel like Maddy would like RH Rooftop. It’s like a dark and edgy vibe (like her clothes) but also very elegant which she loves cause she’s obsessed with the rich vibe of the house she’s been babysitting at. ”- Barbara Savage, class of 2025
Dinner out: “Maddy would go to Monkey Bar because there is a 2 hour wait at Mi Cocina and she needs a ranch water” – Carolyn Hammond, class of 2023
Rue Bennett
Coffee shop: “I could see Rue liking Halcyon on Greenville. They have a cozy interior vibe but it is also edgy at the same time. I could see her getting an Iced Mocha Latte or a Dirty Chai” – Fernanda Gonzalez, class of 2023.
Lunch staple: “Rue wants something easy and quick so I could see her going to In-N-Out. I think she would get a burger and animal style fries with a coke” – Zoe Zinser, class of 2024.
Dinner out: “I could see Rue wanting to eat at the food trucks in Deep Ellum. Rue is very free and a very Deep Ellum, vibrant vibe. There is art, music, restaurants and countless entertainment venues, something that an impulsive character like Rue would love. She does what she wants when she wants it.” – Kaitlyn Ruiz, class of 2024.
Nate Jacobs
Coffee shop: “Nate is ordering a plain black coffee from Starbucks at Fondren for himself and an almond milk latte for Maddy.” – Fernanda Gonzalez, class of 2023.
Lunch staple: “Nate would go to Pluckers Wing Bar or Lucky’s Hot Chicken.” – Kamryn Cook, class of 2023.
Dinner out: “Nate would totally take Maddy to a nice romantic dinner at Monarch to apologize for something or try to win her back.” – Sofia Antico, class of 2023.
Fezco
Coffee shop: “I think Cafe Brazil gives off the perfect ambiance and vibe for Fez to fit right in.”-Lulu Grosvenor, class of 2022.
Lunch staple: “Shug’s Bagels would definitely be a lunch staple for Fez. I also think with their late night menu it could also potentially be a dinner spot.” – Fernanda Gonzalez, class of 2023.
Dinner out: “Fez would 100% go to Mac’s Place because it is kind of similar to gas station food and he owns a gas station in the show. He would definitely be into the late night munchies.”- Bella Driscoll, class of 2025.
