Football season is finally back and there is one accessory that the most stylish tailgaters are wearing: statement earrings. While this trend is nothing new to the fashionistas of SMU, it is time to bring the look to the runway show that is the Boulevard.
A quick scroll through the fashion blog Lonestar Southern suggests this style is here to stay. Kate Padgitt, a University of Texas graduate, started the blog as an assignment during her sophomore year of college and has since amassed 166,000 followers on Instagram. Padgitt says the bigger the better with this trend. “The statement earrings that impress me the most are those that have bigger proportions and really go all out,” Padgitt said in an email. “Play it safe with what you’re wearing them with, not with the earrings themselves,” she added.
Padgitt recommends going with a lightweight option in school colors for game day. “You can wear a neutral outfit to the tailgate but bring the school spirit with your accessories,” the blogger said.
